We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and hospitality-driven Off-Premise Chef to join our culinary team. This role is ideal for a chef who thrives in dynamic event environments, enjoys leading teams, and takes pride in creating exceptional guest experiences beyond the traditional kitchen setting.
Position Summary
The Off-Premise Chef is responsible for leading culinary operations at off-site events while ensuring food quality, presentation, safety, and execution meet TGIS standards. This position works closely with Event Managers, Service Staff, and Culinary Team Members to create seamless event experiences and deliver exceptional hospitality to every guest.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, team-oriented, and passionate about hospitality-driven cuisine.
What You'll Do
Culinary Execution
- Execute menus according to TGIS recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Oversee food finishing, plating, buffet presentation, and service execution at off-site events.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and attention to detail throughout every event.
- Adapt to changing event needs while maintaining exceptional culinary standards.
- Support menu preparation and production in the commissary kitchen as needed.
Event Operations
- Coordinate culinary setup, service, and breakdown at event venues.
- Ensure all food, equipment, and supplies arrive properly organized and event-ready.
- Monitor event timelines and collaborate with the Event Captain to ensure seamless execution.
- Troubleshoot on-site challenges with professionalism and urgency.
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces throughout the event lifecycle.
Team Leadership
- Lead and support culinary team members during event execution.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Train and mentor cooks and kitchen staff on TGIS standards and procedures.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all health department regulations and food safety standards.
- Ensure proper food handling, transportation, storage, and temperature controls.
- Promote safe work practices and maintain a clean, sanitary environment.
- Uphold all TGIS culinary and operational standards.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional culinary experience in catering, banquets, hospitality, restaurants, or events.
- Experience leading kitchen teams in fast-paced environments.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to event locations.
- Current Food Handler Certification (Food Manager Certification preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Luxury catering, wedding, or special event experience.
- Experience executing large-scale off-premise events.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work long event shifts when required.

Job Type: Part-Time / On-Call Event Staff
Pay: $23 - $27 per hour
Schedule: Flexible; evenings, weekends, and holidays required
Work Location: Various event venues throughout Southern California
